Close-up of a classical orange-red Oriental poppy flower; only sections of petals are shown here. The photo was taken in the late afternoon, when the light intensity was already reduced and the light quality notable diffuse.
Oriental poppy blooms in early summer, bearing flamboyant, bowl-shaped blossoms that are 10 to 15 cm across. The original color is orange-red, but today you’ll also find red, scarlet, pink, salmon, white, and bicolor blooms.
