Large-leaved lupine is a perennial herbaceous plant native to western North America. It produces tall stems with blue to violet flowers from early to late summer. Large-leaved lupine commonly grows along streams and creeks, preferring moist habitats.
A large number of garden hybrids have been developed over the years; the bicolor Russell hybrids are the most popular type. Their large pea-like flowers come in amazing colors and combinations, clustered in long spikes on sturdy stems.
