Orange-Red Coneflower (Echinacea Sombrero Salsa Red) (1)

Coneflowers, also known as Echinacea, are a North American perennial in the daisy family (Asteraceae). They grow up to 1 meter in height with dark green foliage. They have large, showy heads of composite flowers, blooming in summer. Coneflowers are named for the ‘cone’ that begins to stick up in the center of the circle of petals as each flower matures.

The most common species available to gardeners is Echinacea purpurea, the purple coneflower. However, numerous garden varieties have been bred in an array of attractive colors, like pink, yellow, orange, red, and white.

Noted for its long blooming season, Echinacea Sombrero Salsa Red is a vibrant coneflower with softly fragrant, fiery orange-red flowers. They are 7 cm across and attract butterflies. The petals overlap, giving the flowers a fuller look.
