Vlieland – A Dutch Car-Free Island in the North Sea (1)

Vlieland – A Dutch Car-Free Island in the North Sea (1)

The North Sea is a marginal sea of the Atlantic Ocean located between Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. It connects to the ocean through the English Channel in the south and the Norwegian Sea in the north. The North Sea is more than 970 kilometers long and 580 kilometers wide.

Vlieland is a Dutch Island, 12 km in length and no more than 2 km in width. It has the North Sea to the north and the Waddenzee to the south. The north coast has beautiful, peaceful beaches.

My photograph shows the ferry which operates between Harlingen Harbor on the Dutch mainland and Vlieland. The time required for one leg of the journey [out or back] is about 90 minutes.
