Vlieland – A Dutch Car-Free Island in the North Sea (2)

The island of Vlieland has only one village: Oost-Vlieland, with approximately 1’100 residents. The village contains 39 buildings classified as ‘monument’. These have been carefully renovated to maintain the main street [Dorpsstraat, see photograph] in its original state. Here, cozy shops offer a wide range of everyday needs.

Vlieland municipality doesn’t allow you to bring a car or motorcycle. This means that nothing will disturb the overwhelming impression of peace and quiet.
