Golden Clematis (Clematis tibetana) (1)

The feathery seed head of a golden clematis (Clematis tibetana, also named Clematis tibetana subsp. tangutica or Clematis tangutica) was captured in the botanical garden of the University of Basel a few days ago.

Clematis vines are climbing shrubs or herbaceous perennial plants with beautiful flowers in a rich variety of hues. The genus Clematis consists of over 280 species, both deciduous and evergreen, and countless cultivars and hybrids. Whilst they are spread widely over the temperate regions of the world, they mostly grow in the Northern Hemisphere.
