Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) (5)

Egyptian Geese are excellent swimmers, but most of their time is spent on land. These water birds will nest in a large variety of situations. The female builds the nest from reeds, leaves and grass and both parents take turns incubating 5 to 12 white or creamy eggs. Egyptian geese usually pair for life. Both the male and female care for the offspring until they are about 60 to 75 days old. The chicks reach maturity when they are 2 years old.
