Winter Aconites (Eranthis hyemalis) (5)

Winter aconite is native to Italy, Bulgaria, the Balkans, Turkey and Iraq. It was introduced to British gardens in 1596. From there, winter aconite slipped into nature. The plant was first found in the wild in Britain in 1838. It is now widely naturalized in the UK and Europe outside its native range.
