Germander Speedwell (Veronica chamaedrys) (1)

Germander Speedwell is native to Europe. It generally grows in grassy places like meadows, pastures, verges, and on waste ground.

Germander Speedwell can grow to 20 cm tall but is frequently shorter. The leaves are in opposite pairs, triangular and crenate.

The blue flowers with a four-lobed corolla are carried on small spikes in the axils of the leaves. They are 8–12 mm wide. Dark blue stripes guide insects to the nectar which is covered by a crown of hairs. Possible pollinators are flies, bees, and small butterflies.
