Zoropsis spinimana, also named Mediterranean spiny false wolf spider or Nosferatu spider, is one of Europe’s largest spiders. It can penetrate the human skin with its chelicerae and produce a painful bite. However, it is harmless to humans and bites are unlikely.
Zoropsis spinimana looks like a wolf spider. Males reach a body length of around 10 to12 mm, females are larger; they are 15 to 18 mm long. The size of adults including legs is 5 to 6 cm. The front body (prosoma) is brownish with broad darker markings. The abdomen (opisthosoma) has median black markings. The legs are mainly a speckled brown color.
Zoropsis spinimana is camera shy and, thus, difficult to photograph.
