I took close-ups of the ‘face’ of the female lesser purple emperor, while it was basking in the sun (see yesterday’s post). I used a bamboo stick as a monopod to diminish camera movements.
When I inspected my photographs on my computer, I was surprised about what I saw: A butterfly face with character traits. I assume this is the face of a content and complacent insect lady.
