Fog in the Swiss Jura Mountains (1)

Many hikers love clear blue skies and sunshine to accompany their adventures. However, there is a unique and mystical allure to hiking in the fog. I am one of those folks who like fog very much.

Fog is a visible aerosol consisting of tiny water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the air at or near the Earth’s surface (definition by Wikipedia). But fog can also transform a familiar trail into an enchanting and mysterious landscape.

I invite you to accompany me on a foggy trail in the Swiss Jura. We start at dawn after a cup of coffee in the center of Reigoldswil, a village in the Canton Basel-Country. We then cross a forest before hiking over green rolling hills.
