Sunflower oil, extracted from the seeds of sunflower, is a popular cooking oil that is suitable for high-temperature cooking.

Sunflower oil is a triglyceride and mainly consists of palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid. It has many health benefits because it is low in saturated fat and high in two types of fatty acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids and monounsaturated fatty acids.

Worldwide about 16’000’000 tons of sunflower oil is produced per year. Ukraine is the largest sunflower oil producer with 4’400’000 tons production per year, followed by the Russian Federation, Argentina, Turkey, France, Hungary and Spain.
