Riders on the thrill ride ‘Maxximum’ rotate at the end of a long arm by 360° with a speed of up of 120 kilometers per hour and 4-6 x gravity. Their highest point is 52 meter above the ground. The platform with 8 seats [2×4] rotates by 360° around a horizontal axis in addition. I have tried to capture the emotions of people during their extraordinary journey.
To capture this photo I used a hand-held camera, continuous auto focus, auto ISO and a maximal exposure time of 1/250 seconds.
The photos of people on Maxximum with the sky as backdrop were all shot against the light. In the raw images people are only visible as silhouettes with faint structures. I converted the backlit photograph in several steps with Adobe Photoshop into the image shown.
