French Angelfish (Pomacanthus paru) (2)

Usually found at depths less than 5 m, the French angelfish lives in coral reefs that offer shelter from nocturnal predators. The angel fish form monogamous breeding pairs and are territorial to their home area. The fish is very curious.

Adult French angelfish eat algae and invertebrates like sponges, tunicates, corals, gorgonians and zoanthids! Like parrotfish, they play an important role in controlling algae on the reef and keeping a balanced ecosystem.

French angelfish are a popular and hardy aquarium fish and, also, a food fish.
