King Penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus) (2)

Basel Zoo (‘Zolli’) is home to a colony of king penguins. When the temperature is below 10°C, at 11 o’clock every day they waddle from their indoor enclosure over a bridge to an outdoor enclosure. There the penguins spend a few hours and then waddle back.

The penguin outings are always escorted by large crowds of zoo goers. The children especially seem to enjoy this spectacle very much.
