Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) (2)

Egyptian geese were considered sacred by the Ancient Egyptians, and appeared in much of their artwork. This specie was kept in captivity in Europe since the 18th century. A free-living population – originating from escaped birds – grew rapidly. In Europe, the species has been included since 2017 in the list of Invasive Alien Species. This implies, among others, that this species cannot be commercialized or intentionally released into the environment.
