Outside the breeding season, the sexes cannot be distinguished by color. Pinkish skin surrounds the bare, dark eyes having brown red to dark brown irises.
Only during the breeding season does the bare skin around the eyes take on a gender-specific color. In males, this skin turns yellowish pink, in females bright orange.
