Where do butterflies spend the night? At night, or during inclement weather, most butterflies perch on the underside of a leaf, crawl deep between blades of grass or into a crevice in rocks, or find some other shelter, and sleep. However, some experts say that butterflies do not sleep, they only rest.
During the night, butterflies [as well as dragonflies and damselflies] are often covered with dew droplets. In the morning, they must dry off and raise their temperature before they can fly again. This short time span is ideal for photographing them. The ‘only’ problem is to find them.
