My photo shows a section of the ‘heart-shape pairing wheel’ formed by a male [it is completely visible here] and a female blue-tailed damselfly during pairing, In this ‘wheel position’ sperm is transferred from the male secondary genitalia between segments 2 and 3 to the female [only the brownish tip of the female’s abdomen can be seen in my image].
