The white-legged damselfly, also named blue featherleg, is a damselfly of slow-flowing, muddy waters with lush vegetation. It is widespread and common throughout most of Europe.

Mature adults have a body length of about 36 mm, feathery, broad pale legs and pale brown pterostigmata. Males have a narrow black median stripe running down the top of the pale blue abdomen and a greenish thorax. Females have a pale yellow-green color with black markings. Immature males and females are mostly creamy white.
