Mating of white-legged damselflies is preceded by the male displaying his white legs in a fluttering display flight in front of females Males remain in tandem with females during egg laying (oviposition). Elongated eggs are laid on the underside of floating and emergent vegetation, and floating debris. The larvae live amongst bottom debris and emerge after two years.
