Snow crocuses (Crocus sieberi ssp. atticus) (1)

This beautiful plant grows wild in the Balkans, Greece and Crete. The subtype ‘atticus’ has lilac-blue flowers and is usually one of the earliest snow crocuses to bloom.

Today’s photograph was captured at the botanical garden of the University of Basel.
