Crocus is a genus in the iris family comprising about 80 species of low-growing perennials. They are native to the Alps, southern Europe, and the Mediterranean.
Crocus sieberi is a beautiful plant growing wild in the Balkans, Greece, and Crete. The subtype ‘atticus’ has lilac-blue flowers and is usually one of the earliest snow crocuses to bloom.
