Tommasini’s Crocuses (Crocus tommasinianus) (8)

Yesterday’s visit of Basel’s botanical garden unambiguously showed that spring has arrived in the northwest corner of Switzerland. Winter aconites have been blooming for a good while now. Blooms of snowdrops and cyclamens were added during the past 10 days. And only recently, the lilac-mauve flowers of Tommasini’s Crocuses completed the carpet of spring flowers.

Today’s close-up of Tommasini’s crocus flowers was taken against the morning light. The vegetation was still damp and dew drops glistened in the light of the sun.
