Winter Cyclamen (Cyclamen coum) (1)

Winter cyclamen, also called eastern cyclamen, is a small perennial, with rounded leaves. The plant blooms from late winter to early spring. Flowers come in wonderful whites, pinks, purples, lavenders and an occasional darker colored ‘eye’. Winter cyclamen grows in shady places in coniferous and broad-leafed woodland, sometimes amongst tree roots and rocks.

Winter cyclamen is found in the mountains and coastal areas of Eastern Europe through Georgia and the Crimea, but also in southern Turkey, down the eastern Mediterranean coast through Syria and the Lebanon into Israel.
