The generic term ‘dragonfly’ scientifically comprises two closely related flying insects of the order Odonata: damselflies and dragonflies. Damselflies are smaller than dragonflies and have slimmer bodies. They have two pairs of wings that are the same size and shape. Most species fold the wings along the body when at rest. Damselflies also have smaller eyes with a gap in between. Damselflies are found mainly near shallow, freshwater habitats. They are graceful fliers and their colors can be stunningly vivid.
