The generic term ‘dragonfly’ scientifically comprises two closely related flying insects of the order Odonata: damselflies and dragonflies. Dragonflies have bulkier bodies than damselflies, with a shorter, thicker appearance. Dragonflies have different shaped pairs of fore and hind wings, the latter are much broader. When at rest dragonflies hold the wings flat and away from the body. Dragonflies have very large eyes that are close together. Dragonflies are found near fresh water habitats. They are expert fliers and can fly straight up and down and hover like a helicopter.
