Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) (1)

Red fescue belongs to the large grass family ‘Poaceae’. It is widespread across much of the Northern Hemisphere and can tolerate many habitats and climates.

Red fescue is tuft forming, 15 to 80 cm tall, with creeping rhizomes and surface runners. The narrow leaves are grey-green and hairless. The flowers are attached to branches rather than to the main axis of the inflorescence.
