The color of the leek grasshopper varies from light green to brownish yellow. A black horizontal stripe runs from the eye well into the wings. The leek grasshopper is fairly large and slim. Females have a body length of 28-32 mm; the males are smaller (17-23 mm). The wings of both sexes reach approximately the end of the abdomen. Thus, the species is able to fly short distances.
