Wall Lizard (Podarcis muralis) (2)

The nights are still fairly cold but during the day it is sunny and pleasantly warm. In our garden, the lizards already stroll through their territories and enjoy the sunshine. Of course, I could not resist to take a few pics.

The common wall lizard is a fast-moving, agile reptile of up to 20 cm in length, of which two thirds correspond to the tail. It has a relatively flattened body with long limbs and long toes. The head is angular with a prominent jaw.

The scales of common wall lizard are highly variable in color and pattern. The coloration is generally brownish or grayish, and may occasionally be tinged with green. The belly is often a very light creamy brown with light spots that get denser at the throat.

Males often have a series of aligned blue spots at their sides. Females are typically slightly smaller and lighter.
