The Petite Camargue harbors different biological habitats within a fairly small area, including forests, shrubs and hedgerows, creeks, marshland, wet and dry meadows, fields and pastures and – very prominent – several large and many small ponds.
At one of these ponds, I observed a mute swan (Cygnus olor) inspecting its mirror image (or searching for its breakfast).
