Onions are not just vegetables. In fact, several members of the Allium family, which also includes leeks, chives and garlic, are fascinating ornamental plants. Several Allium cultivars have beautiful flowers and a wonderful scent.
Most onions prefer full sunlight, but also make it in partial shade. Alliums have very few issues with diseases, insects, or rodents, so it is worth having some in your garden.
