Several whorls of stamens around a compound pistil, which results from the fusion of carpels, are located in the center of the flower [see photograph].
All parts of the Oriental poppy are poisonous if ingested. The edible poppy seeds found in baked goods come from the opium poppy (P. somniferum), not the Oriental poppy.

17 Jun 2021Nach dem gestrigen “Oriental Poppy Nr. 1” war ich ja auf eine Fortsetzung gefasst, bin dann aber doch überrascht worden, musste beim Auftauchen von Nr. 2 unwillkürlich auflachen, weil ich damit aus meiner Erwartungshaltung auf eine sehr (ich will es mal so nennen) spitzbübische Art und Weise herausgeholt wurde. Nicht nur technisch sehr gelungen!
