Today’s photo shows the Christmas market on ‘Barfüsserplatz’ against the backdrop of the church of St. Leonard.
This year, Basel’s Christmas markets are fenced in. Only people with a valid vaccination certificate are admitted. This – of course – dampens the Christmas spirit of the market visitors. The question ‘Is a fenced in Christmas market only for vaccinated people better than no Christmas market?’ has been discussed very controversially. I do not know the ‘correct’ answer. In Basel, this disputed concept seems to work OK.
