Common Wallflower (Erysimum cheiri) (4)

A native of Southern Europe, the common wallflower has been cultivated in gardens of knights and noblemen since at least the Middle Ages. Back then wallflowers were carried in small bouquets by hand to festivals or other events. Today, there are many different breeds in numerous colors.

The common Wallflower was used as a medicinal plant for strengthening the heart and circulation. However, the whole plant is poisonous and, thereby, today no relevant medicine.
