Ipomoea purpurea is native to Mexico and Central America. Like all morning glories the plant entwines itself around structures with its climbing stems, growing to a height of 2-3 m.
Ipomoea purpurea ‘Star of Yalta’ bears deep purple flowers with rich red veins forming a star shape from the center to the petal tips. The blooms have a diameter of 3-6 cm.
