Previous Thursday was a perfect day for a high Alpine tour. It was sunny and the air cool and fresh. Initially, the trail was dry and in good condition. Above 2‘400 m there was snow on the path but walking with hiking boots with profile soles was still fine.
I enjoy it to ascend to a pass or a summit, and while I struggle to reach my goal, to feel my body and experience my limits. I find it rewarding when after a long, strenuous climb suddenly a new and exciting vista opens up.
Today’s photo was taken during the ascent of mount Ussri. The terrain there is rugged and treeless, and the trail requires caution and surefootedness. To the north the shimmering waters of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun were visible.
