Around December 10, winter had finally arrived in northern Switzerland at elevations above 500 meters. No doubt – I grabbed this photo opportunity and went on a snow hike in the Swiss Jura mountains.
I had selected a hiking route on one of the Jura mountain folds. The ‘Blauen Crest Trail’ is about 15 km long, with a gradual ascent and a steep but shorter decent. Its highest point is 837 meter above sea level.
The trailhead is easily reachable from where I live. By streetcar and bus it takes less than one hour to get there.
On the crest trail everything was covered with a thick blanket of fresh snow. Thus, the conditions were perfect for a day in the Swiss winter wonderland. But see for yourself!
