Creux du Van – A Nature Lover’s Paradise (Canton of Neuchâtel) (8)

Only a few hundred meters south of the Creux du Van the highest point of my hike is located. The summit of Le Soliat (1’465 m) is marked by a simple wooden cross. A bench and an artistic, panoramic table invite visitors to linger and enjoy the view on the highest peaks of the Bernese and Savoy Alps, including noteworthy peaks such as Jungfrau (4’178m), Aletschhorn (4’195), Weisshorn (4’505), Dent Blanche (4’357), Matterhorn (4’478) and Mont Blanc (4’810). Tomorrow I will show a photo of what I was granted to see.

The name ‘Le Soliat’ is derived from solarium, and refers to a place that gets plenty of sunshine. Too bad! This was not the case when I was there.
