Snow is a rarity in Basel. The city is located in the valley of the river Rhein. For snow, it does not get cold enough most of the time.
Previous Thursday we had a serious drop in temperature and, only a short time later, it snowed many hours without disruption. Next morning, public transport collapsed and soon afterwards the roads were also hopelessly congested for cars. I grabbed this chance and strolled through the ‘car-free’ urban winter wonderland. What a blast I had!
